Using Redact PDF

Marked areas are removed by rebuilding every page as an image in a new PDF. Text layers, metadata, attachments and forms are not copied.

  1. Open the PDF and identify sensitive regions.
  2. Mark every region, including repeated information on other pages.
  3. Apply redactions, then inspect the downloaded image-based copy.

Limits and checks

Up to 250 pages per input PDF and 100 MB per batch. Encrypted or malformed files may not open.

Redaction is not the same as covering text

Frequently asked questions

Can hidden text under a redaction be selected?

The output is rebuilt from rendered pages with masked regions, rather than saving a black rectangle over the original text. Review all pages; selecting the correct regions remains your responsibility.

Is my content sent to a server?

No. Processing runs inside your browser. Optional editor recovery saves a draft on this device only. Read the privacy policy.

Will my original file be changed?

No. Downloaded results are separate copies. Open the finished output before sharing it or deleting an original.
