Content and layout are different promises
A DOCX file can contain text, tables, images, page sections, comments, tracked changes and embedded objects. This editor focuses on editable text, basic formatting, lists and tables. It does not reproduce every feature of Microsoft Word. Opening a complex file here should be treated as a content conversion, not a lossless round trip.
Review an import systematically
Start with a copy. Check headings, paragraph breaks, tables and embedded pictures. Original headers, footers and advanced page layout may change. External content is not fetched automatically. If precise legal or print layout matters, compare the exported copy in the office application used by the recipient.
Choose the right export
DOCX is useful for further word processing. HTML retains browser-style content for other compatible editors. Markdown and plain text simplify the structure and do not preserve page design. PDF output uses the browser print dialog: choose Save as PDF, inspect paper size and margins, and disable browser-added headers when appropriate.
Recovery is not a backup system
Local recovery is optional and stored in this browser. It can be lost if browser data is cleared, storage is full or the device fails. Download versions as you work. On a shared computer, leave local recovery off and clear saved drafts before leaving.
